For Easter and Everyday- The Girard Brothers in Osceola have their own eggs. Eggs come through their barn by the dozens, and then some. A whole lot more actually. There is anywhere from 140-150,000 eggs a day that come through the farm. It is a daily ritual for them to make sure that all chickens are in good condition and all are producing eggs.
Global food prices lowest in 5 years World food prices fell to their lowest level in March 2010. Food and Agriculture Organization said the monthly price changes in cereal, dairy, meat, sugar and oilseeds, fell 2.6 points in March to 173.8 points, and also corn plantings are projected at 89.199 million acres, the lowest since 2010.
Why Are Barns Painted Red? Yonatan Zunger decided to explain this phenomenon on Google+ recently. The simple answer to why barns are painted red is because red paint is cheap. The cheapest paint there is, in fact. It’s really cheap because it’s really plentiful. And it’s really plentiful because of nuclear fusion in dying stars.
Musical swing set builds community- A French Canadian design group has redefined the classic swing set with a spectacular piece of installation art that encourages people to work together. The Swings: An Exercise in Musical Cooperation is a large set of multicolored seats that glow with bright lights and emulate a range of musical instruments as people swing.
Ag students inNebraska college appreciate role models and career mentors who help guide their careers. When a dozen members of the Women in Agriculture chapter at the University of Nebraska’s College of Technical Agriculture iattended the 30th Nebraska WIA conference, they found many friendly faces and opportunities for discussion. They feel that it always helps to meet other people in the industry, and to learn from their ideas and experiences.
