Friday 2/13/15 Case Study (50 word min)

Overlooked

Elise has worked in the same position for the past three years.  She is a dedicated worker who is well respected and liked by both management and her coworkers.  On at least three seperate occasions, she has applied for management positions that were ultimately give to staff members with less experience and education.  In the most recent case, the position was filled with an employee they hired from outside the company.  She doesn't know why this is happening.  She thinks this is unfair and has become angry, bitter, and resentful.  She wants to confront management about being overlooked for promotions, but is afraid they will see how bitter she has become.  She is wondering if she should just look for a new job.  What should Elise do?

  1. I think that Elise should maybe have a meeting with her boss or someone because what is happening to her is unfair. I think if she scheduled a meeting her boss would understand because they have to have a good working environment and if an employee is frustrated, they need to figure it out. If her boss does not approve, I would ask about a pay raise. If I can not get a raise or promotion, I would think about working somewhere else then.

  2. She should go in and talk to her boss. She could either end up with a promotion, or have to look for a new job. It could be good both ways. If she isn't being treated fairly, it may be best to work somewhere else.

  3. She should have a conversation with her boss about why she has not been granted the promotion and if he doesn't have a good reason tell him that you are possibly looking into a good job.

  4. I think she needs to talk to one of her superiors and find out why she didn't get the promotion and prove why her experience and hard work deserves to get the promotion. If the reasoning behind her not getting the promotion is not satisfactory to her and/or nothing is changed she needs to consider looking somewhere else for a job where she will be appreciated.

  5. I think she should talk to her boss and explain him the situation and quietly ask him why this is happening. if they dont understand or dont have a good reason, she maybe should try to find a new job if she really think it is the best for her.

  6. She should go to talk to her boss. She could look for a job or something else Because if she isnt being treated fair than she should look for a new job that will treat her well.

  7. If she isn't being treated fairly then i think the best thing she could do if she sees no change would be to quit. I mean she deserve equality in her job like others.

  8. I think she should go talk to her boss, either she gets a promotion, or she gets fired and will have to look for a new job, and it could be fair both ways, because she might deserve a promotion, and she isn't treated fairly, so if she were to get fired, maybe getting a new job wouldn't be so bad.

  9. I think that she should at least go and talk to her boss and ask why this is happening. Then she would know why this is happening. If she doesn't like why it is maybe she should look for a new job.

  11. I think she should look for a new job and before accept it, talk with her boss about what is happening. After that she should decide if she wants to continue working there or accept the other job.
