The Case of the Inadequate Planning
A group of students decide to hold a benefit concert for a local charity, which will need to close its doors if it doesn't receive enough funding .They go through the work of reserving space, inviting members of the President's cabinet, and placing posters around campus and in the community . Many churches are excited about the event and plan on bringing their youth groups to it . The charity is very excited by the concert because it will keep their doors open, the students are excited because they are able to help make a significant difference in the community, and the administration is happy because it's great publicity for the school; everybody wins .
One week before the concert, it is abundantly clear that the students did not make adequate arrangements for lighting, sound systems, or security . Unless more sound and lighting are reserved before the event, the concert will be a disaster and without enough security, the safety of those who attend could be in question . Your repeated and increasingly urgent reminders have gone unanswered because the students think you're just overreacting .
> What would you do?
> At what point would it become necessary to cancel the event?
I would keep asking around for help and support. I would look up different bands or performers to perform. I would also seek out different sound and lighting specialists. I would try my best to get them to come and help us. I would pay a little extra if I really had to because the charity means a lot to everyone in the community. I would cancel it a day before if I had no one to help out.
ReplyDeleteI would go around asking people if they would be interested in helping. Having them volunteer would be very nice. Assuming this is a college, I would go to people maybe specializing in the equipment kind of stuff, and see if they would be interested in helping.
ReplyDeleteI would ask for as much help as possible. It would help a lo tif people would help. if no one did i would have to cancel because i couldnt do it by myself.
ReplyDeleteIn a situation like this I would tell the students about their inevitable future of the whole event being cancelled in they don't make the adequate changes that need to take place. If they were then willing to make the changes I would help them by finding possible funding, then finding possible better lighting and sound options for a more enjoyable experience, some security, to make sure it is all safe.
ReplyDeleteI would ask other if they would like to give some support or help. You can't do everything yourself well. Two heads are better than one.
ReplyDeleteI would tell the students that we need to get more lighting and more security so that the concert could be seen in a good light, and security so that the people who plan to attend this even could feel safe, and could get there safe and back safely....I would cancel the event if we couldn't find more security and lighting, because those are our two main priorities and we need them for the event to occur.
ReplyDeleteI would ask help and tel to the student that they need to move if they don't want to cancel the event. They need to understand that it need to be safe and that we need more light. I would also ask help to have more chance to make it work.

ReplyDeleteI would ask for help around and try to get stuff. I would try to get any band that could and pay some extra. If I couldn't find any one then I would cancel it a day before.
ReplyDeleteI would try to find more people to help and possibly ask students around the campus if they are willing to help lighting, security. I would ask them for help because it would be nearly impossible to do it all on my own. I would cancel the event if I couldn't find the things I need.
ReplyDeletei would ask around to see if i could get some help from people i would have to cancel the event if i could get help from people i would try to reschedule the event if possible
